Kris Gingrich Men's Basketball Team Position: Power Forward/Center Major: Aerospace Engineering
In two games against West Valley and Gavalian, Kris Gingrich scored a total of 41 points for the Dons in losing efforts. He was the top performer against the Vikings and led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and had 24 points against the Rams.
What got you interested in joining the basketball team at De Anza? G: Basketball is my life and my favorite sport of all time. That's what got me to join the basketball team here at De Anza.
Do you have any siblings in the family? And do any of them play any kind of sports? Would you consider it a family thing where everyone plays a sport? G: My younger brother Kyle plays football and he likes it more than basketball. Right now he is a junior attending Lynbrook High School and he's going to attend De Anza College in two years. My whole family considers sports as their life because it's so thrilling to us.
Which four-year college are you planning on transferring to? What do you want to do for your career? Why did you choose this as your career? G: After I'm done here at De Anza, I plan on transferring to San Diego State University. I'm going there because I want to be an engineer and math is my favorite subject of all time.
Who is your favorite athlete of all time and why? G: My favorite athlete of all time is Joe Montana. He has been a huge inspiration to me because he has proven to be a winner, he has won four championship rings with the 49ers, and I think he's the best quarterback of all time in the NFL.
When was the first time you played basketball? G: When I was six years old, I started playing basketball on an organized team (children's basketball) and I've been playing basketball in general for a long time.
During your free time, what kind of activities do you like to do besides basketball? G: I love to hit the weights at the gym, read books, watch comedy movies and party with my friends.
