Wind Ensemble gives 'Incredible' performance

Surrounded by trees and blooming jasmine, the De Anza College Wind Ensemble performed melodies, marches, minuets and even a movie score in the Art Quad on June 10. Six pieces were performed, featuring songs that ranged from sweet and melancholy to cheerful and joyous.

EUPHRAT SHOWCASES STUDENT ART

Student artists show off their creativity, ambition and experimentation in the art exhibit showcased at the Euphrat Museum of Art. From large scale canvases to smaller works with a punch, artists stretch their limits, using materials from traditional oil on canvas and ceramics to unique surfaces such as coffee holders, cardboard, rope, fabric, copper pipes and a pillow.

The comic book themed television series features a fascinating and complex plotline, a large cast of characters, many of whom discover they have strange abilities. The finale will conclude the apocalyptic story arc and viewers will finally find out if an exploding man can be stopped from blowing up New York.

DE ANZA POETRY WRITING WEEK

'The only thing that can save us from the darkness'

Poetry Writing Week, held last week, invited participants into the world of composing verse. The idea sprouted from the head of Bob Dickerson, an English and literature teacher at De Anza College. Dickerson wanted to remind people how great poetry is, as well as to laugh, have fun and be crazy.

ICC representatives can't take the heat

Furendo Suppondo representative San Lee and De Anza Cheer and Dance representative Nathan Mertz expressed displeasure with the actions of ICC Chair of Programs Levi Rosenthal at the Inter-Club Council meeting last Wednesday. The discussion arose after Rosenthal offered an apology to Disabled Students Unlim- ited and Nutrition and Health for not meeting with them to provide tents for their time at the flea market.

ICC sends funds to benefit Virginia Tech

De Anza College's Inter Club Council approved $1,000 in donations to fund relief for the re- cent Virginia Tech Tragedy. A proposal came before the ICC at its meeting on April 25 to donate the money to the Virginia Tech Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund. Donations would go toward assisting victims and their families, grief counseling, memorials, communication expenses and the creation of scholarships.
