Bathrooms open now!

The L-5 restrooms finally reopened last Monday. Sighs of relief were heard throughout the east side of campus. They and the S-6 restrooms have been closed for renovation since the end of last September.
The renovations of both restrooms wore a part of Measure E, a bond passed in 1999. Renovations included painting, fire system wiring and updated fixtures. The S-6 will be completed by the second week of February, Donna Jones-Dulin, the director of College Services, told me.
The renovation in L-5 has been an inconvenience to instructors and students for four months, and all for automatic toilet flushing and new paint.
And as soon as the S-6 restrooms are reopened, S-2 will be closed for renovation. The restrooms in between the football field and golf range will be closed at the end of February as well, for another few months.
De Anza has 22 restrooms that were "built based on occupancy." Jones-Dulin said that lengthy renovations are irritating in individual quads, but they don't drastically affect overall bathroom accessibility since 20 are open at any given time.
Bathroom locations are one of the most important things to know on this campus, especially following those Red Bull-infused cramming sessions. Students who are unfamiliar with the campus may want to print out a college map and mark the locations of the restrooms, especially the ones close to their classes.
So while you won't be able to blame getting lost during your extended class break, you may still have to worry about wading through hacky-sack circles to get to the ATC restrooms.
