DASB Unanimously Approves Proposed Budget
The Student Senate unanimously approved the proposed budget Wednesday. Next meeting, the senate will vote on stipulations, which will specify in more detail under what conditions the money may be spent. The total size of the budget is $983,000, down over $130,000 from previous years.
DASB Takes Stand Against Short Duration of Pay to Stay The Student Senate voted to endorse a two week pay period for the Pay to Stay policy, citing concerns that five days is not enough, as paychecks come every two weeks.
Statewide Senate
Senators discussed the proposed creation of a statewide student senate, to replace the California Student Association of Community Colleges. The California Community Colleges Chancellor no longer recognizes CalSACC as an official entity recognizing the students of community colleges because CalSACC became too involved with lobbying, said Executive Vice President Bernardo de Seabra.
