De Anza College's women's volleyball team defeated Monterey Peninsula College 3-0 during last Wednesday's game, despite struggling in the first set.
On Monterey Peninsula's team, there seemed to be confusion and miscommunication between players, which worked to De Anza's advantage. The Dons made a more solid effort during the second set. Monterey stepped it up as well, but not enough to catch up with the Dons.
Despite some errors and a few balls served to the net, the Dons won the third set and the game.
"We could have done better on passing and serving," Kit Moore, Monterey Peninsula's head coach said. "Hopefully, next time we meet De Anza we will play a little better."
Dawnis Guevara, Dons head coach, was pleased with her team's performance. "We played very well! We smoked them!" she said.
"The next time we meet it will be more difficult because Monterey will have the home advantage. Monterey Peninsula is a good team, and I hope we will be able to win again."
