The game got off to a rocky start for De Anza College in the first few minutes they were down by three points. However, with the help of Derisa Taleni scoring 19 points in the first half, the lady Dons were able to get a strong lead, heading to the locker room with a score of 38 - 22 in their favor.
After the half, they picked up 33 more points for a final score of 71- 44. During the second half De Anza kept ahead, forcing turnover after turnover on the Seahawks.
The spread kept becoming wider as each team member racked up points with the highest scorer of the second half being Raquel Morin with eight points, her game total. She was the third highest scorer of the game, the second being Shay Williams with 13.
The game was the best start for a team who already had a winning preseason and was first runner up in the recent Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic tournament.
"It was our first conference game and I'm happy about it." said head coach Arden Kragalott.
