Senator Spotlight: VP of finance David White
FORMER MILITARY MAN NOW SERVES THE DE ANZA ARMY
Robert Erdei
David White is the Vice President of Budget and Finance for the De Anza Associated Student Body Senate. He became a senator to help the college and make it a better place for students.
White enjoyed the budget deliberations this quarter. He also liked the Seesaw Conference where he learned how to improve the senate and make it more efficient.
White would like to start a recreation room on campus. This would increase revenue, which would mean the DASB Senate could fund more programs. He hopes highly motivated persons will run for senate next year.
"If you don't want to do the work, don't sign up for the job," White said. White is a team player who doesn't just clock in and clock out. He enriches the senate through his actions. As a veteran in the senate, he serves as a mentor to other senators such as junior senators and agents. He takes things in stride, not sweating the little things.
White's experience in the military gave him many leadership skills, allowing him to be one of the senate leaders.
While in the military, White was a computer systems specialist, responsible for testing, troubleshooting and repairing the majority of the computer systems on F/ A 18 Hornets. He managed and supervised the work of 25 other Navy personnel Yokosuka, Japan.
White embraced the senate because he knew he'd gain valuable skills that would apply in work and personal environments down the road.
Aside from his leadership position with the senate, he works for a property management firm in San Jose where he does electrical work and collects rent. White is on the Budget and Finance Committee.
During the remainder of his term as senator, he plans to continue enriching lives and growing opportunities for students.
