New exhibit highlights layers of culture in society

It's time for De Anza College students to get in touch with their artistic side. A new art exhibit titled "Material Culture" debuted at the De Anza College Euphrat Museum of Art last Wednesday.
Six artists from different cultural backgrounds are featured in the exhibit, which focuses on materialistic culture in terms of tradition, association, history and how it affects who we are today. Executive director Janet Rindfleisch says that students will have much to look forward to.
"It's just spectacular art," said Rindfleisch. "You'd want to see this for the same reason you'd see a movie that would touch you."
The exhibit, which remains open until April 20, will focus mainly on textiles while exposing the many different layers of our multicultural society.
The Euphrat museum is located east of the Flint Center in A-29. "Material Culture" is free, and will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but is closed during spring break.
