Band: Vital Remains Album: Icons of Evil

New England's Vital Remains is a death metal band best known for it's melodic riffs, epic guitar solos, mind numbing blast beats and it's offensive album cover art and lyrics. The band's new album, "Icons of Evil," pushes it's reputation even farther, so expect nothing but brutal old school death metal

After an unsettling first track with samples from a certain popular Christian film of Jesus getting whipped and crucified, the title track crashes down on you with such utter devastation it is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

The true talent of Vital Remains' guitarists are showcased as the blast beats are replaced with amazing guitar fretwork over a relentless double bass, and then even more impressive solos throughout the song that will have you headbanging in your car on the way to school.

The best thing about this album is the fact that all ten tracks are rock solid and there are no weak spots.

A close second would obviously be the intense cover art, portraying a screaming Jesus being nailed to a cross by a hammer bearing a vivid "666," warning those easily offended to turn away while they still can.

Maybe you'll buy this CD because you're already a Vital Remains fan. Maybe you'll buy this CD because the cover art is guaranteed to offend at least twelve people you know. Maybe you'll buy this CD because a guy at Ozzfest last year kicked your ass in the mosh pit and he was wearing a Vital Remains t-shirt.

Whatever the case is, if you are into extremely aggressive death metal, you will buy "Icons of Evil."
