Wholesome fun under 21
Julia Eckhardt
While spring break may be over and the new quarter underway, that doesn't mean the fun's over.
Here are a few things to do on a Friday night to keep your mind off of the nine page paper that's due on Monday.
Pruneyard has a good variety of restaurants such as Bucca di Beppo, Rock Bottom brewery and a Tandoori Oven. Beppo offers big dishes to share with friends and Oven features great food on the cheap.
And if you feel like checking out another great place, stroll down to Rasputin Music across the street and pick up a new LP for that record player you've been meaning to buy to look cooler.
The Pruneyard
1875 S. Bascom Avenue,
San Jose

It's not so much just one place as it is the plaza as a whole. It's a fun place for the under 21 crowd with a pretty nice set of options for activities.
There's Camera 7 theaters, which doesn't limit itself to the big screen, big money hits. Count on them to keep new foreign films and independent movies availible for the public.
Right next to the Camera 7, is Coffee Society, which De Anza students are already familiar with. The coffee crew is perfectly full of angst: not too much and not too little. The java doesn't suck, it's actually pretty good. And similar to all independent coffee shops in the Bay Area, they feature local artists.
Shisha Hookah Lounge
84 N. Market Street, San Jose

The atmosphere of this hookah lounge is a little bit like "Cheers."
Shisha boasts a few private booths instead of the long bench seating. Hookahs are about $20, but split it with a few friends and it's no problem.
Since Shisha is conviently located in downtown San Jose, you can meet up with your 21 and over friends once they get out of the bars.
The owner is one of the nicest guys around and he always spends his evenings working the front desk. He might not remember your name but he'll know your face.
300 Bowling
5420 Thornwood Dr., San Jose

Formerly Oakridge Lanes, this bowling alley has all the bells and whistles from a fully- stocked bar to plush private rooms. Nothing relieves a stressful day at school like hurling heavy glow-in-the- dark balls at a row of pins. Catch a movie at AMC in Oakridge Mall and spend the rest of the night pretending you're the Big Lebowski.
