De Anza College students encountered major traffic delays Thursday afternoon on highways 85 and 280 caused by a brush fire at the interchange of those two freeway, less than a mile from campus.

The blaze sent up a massive white smoke plume which loomed over De Anza for an hour and a half.

It took 28 fire fighters 3 hours to extinguish the fire according to Battalion Chief Kendall Pearson of the Santa Clara County Fire Department The source the fire was unknown as of press time.
