Levi Rosenthal listens in last Monday's ICC Agenda meeting, when Nathan Mertz and San Lee present a bill of particulars against him.

Impeachment of Inter-Club Council Chair of Programs Levi Rosenthal was raised at last Monday's Inter-Club Council Agenda meeting.

Cheer and Dance representative Nathan Mertz and Furendo Suppondo Vice President San Lee, on the behalf of several clubs, presented a bill of particulars, which is a list of violations that precedes an impeachment motion.

"Humans make mistakes, but repeating mistakes and making [them] back to back, as a college student, I cannot stand for that," said Lee, referring to Rosenthal.

"He has not fulfilled the needs and responsibilities he's supposed to do," said Mertz.

The bill cites failure to attend weekly officer meetings, submitting weekly reports, and maintaining "at least two office hours per week."

In an interview, Rosenthal said, "I was under the impression I changed my office hours on the agenda," but he conceded that it was incorrect for four weekly reports. The bill was presented to ICC Adviser La Donna Yumori-Kaku.

"We reviewed it and I shared it with Elaine [Smith] and it was pulled from the agenda," said Yumori-Kaku. "It wasn't specific enough to be put on the agenda. The information was loose and the dates were [incorrect]."

Inter-Club Council Chair Smith expressed concern over removal of the item by ICC Adviser Yumori-Kaku and De Anza Student Body Adviser John Cognetta.

"As advisers, Cognetta and La Donna do not have the power to put something on or take anything off the agenda; that's why their titles are ICC advisers," said Smith. "It should of been on the [June 13 Meeting] agenda ... they are not supposed to take anything off or on without [the officers] consensus."

The current ICC Code states, "[an] ICC advisor will place the impeachment proceeding on the ICC agenda," after any five representatives acting together submit a bill of particulars citing violations of ICC, DASB and college code. It also states it is the responsibility of the council to interpret, review and enforce the codes.

Rosenthal said, "I want to move forward," and thanked the representatives for holding him accountable. "This has caused me to become much more organized ... and learn the importance of a daily planner."

Lee spoke to representatives in last Wednesday's ICC meeting. "Mocking the officers ... and making a comment that you want to impeach one of the officers is not proper," said Lee, referencing Mertz's actions at the Monday agenda meeting.

"You guys should go to the agenda meeting and call it up and help them ... because ICC officers are here to help."

"I went to the [June 6] ICC meeting and it was a very negative environment ... and it was depressing because they're all supposed to help each other and be there for the clubs," said DASB Senator Dan Sealana. "I wish they would find a peaceful solution; impeachment should be the last resort."
